Autumn School 2025: Facing the Gender Data Gap

In collaboration with the Centre of Anthropology and Gender Studies and the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine of the University of Freiburg, SmallData has created an exciting week-long-training focused on addressing gender-related data gaps in healthcare through the use of clinical data, AI, simulation, and gender-informed research approaches.

The Autumn School is scheduled for October 6–10, 2025 and is open to students, doctoral or postdoctoral researchers from all academic backgrounds.

The Programm includes two parallel tracks:

  1. Hackerthon (in English) Collaborate in an international, interdisciplinary team to address gender-related data gaps in healthcare using AI and clinical datasets to develop open-source tools that promote equity in medical research and practice.
  2. Clinical Simulation Workshop (in German) This hands-on emergency simulation training is designed for medical and non-medical participants. Gain practical health knowledge and learn to respond to critical situations, while also contributing to a voluntary observational study exploring gender bias in first aid and emergency care.
