We are pleased to share that our PI Frank Hutter has received the German AI Innovation Award 2026!
Presented by the German media outlet WELT, the award recognizes significant contributions to innovation in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Frank Hutter received the award for his work in the field, including the development of TabPFN, a part of his research conducted within SmallData, and the co-founding of Prior Labs.
TabPFN (Tabular Prior-data Fitted Network) is a machine learning algorithm that uses tabular data to generate predictions, even when only limited training data is available. This type of data is widely used across scientific disciplines, including biomedicine, physics and economics. Within SmallData, TabPFN is particularly relevant to research on machine learning methods for small datasets and their applications in biomedicine. Building on this research, Frank also co-founded Prior Labs, a company focused on bringing TabPFN-based technology into practical applications.
We warmly congratulate Frank Hutter on receiving this award!
